What investments are needed today to ensure sustainable health and well-being for tomorrow?

CARING NATURE partners are committed to advancing this critical transformation, and their recent participation in the 18th European Public Health Conference (EPH 2025) in Helsinki demonstrated the growing momentum for sustainable health initiatives across Europe.

Held from 11–14 November, the conference was co-organised by the European Public Health Association (EUPHA) and the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL). This year’s theme, “Investing for sustainable health and well-being,” provided a platform for public health professionals, including researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and educators, to rethink how strategic investments can strengthen health systems, improve population well-being, and foster a more equitable, resilient, and sustainable future.

At the conference, CARING NATURE partners from Erasmus University Rotterdam and LUT University actively contributed to discussions on the intersection of health, sustainability, and innovation.

A highlight of their participation was a scientific session on “Are we ready for a new green healthcare era?”, where CARING NATURE insights helped spark debate on how healthcare can embrace sustainability. Additionally, Chiara Cadeddu presented the CARING NATURE case study in a dynamic Pecha Kucha session titled “How can healthcare facilities contribute to more sustainable health systems?”.

The response from attendees was overwhelmingly positive. Participants praised the relevance of CARING NATURE’s work and expressed strong interest in its solutions and approach—highlighting the appetite for practical, evidence-based strategies to make healthcare systems greener, more efficient, and more people-centered.

CARING NATURE’s presence at EPH 2025 reinforced the project’s commitment to driving systemic change in healthcare, ensuring that sustainability and well-being remain at the heart of public health investments across Europe.

Looking ahead: initiatives like CARING NATURE are not only shaping conversations but also helping define tangible pathways for greener, healthier, and more resilient healthcare systems.
